Biotechnology – The Science of the Future

As part of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the National Science Library, students and young scientists are invited to participate in the conference “Biotechnology – Science of the Future.”
The conference will provide participants with an opportunity to present their own research and findings, learn from each other’s experiences, share recent developments in biotechnology, and explore opportunities for collaboration and joint research.
Eligibility
The conference is open to students enrolled in accredited higher education institutions (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs), as well as PhD or early-career researchers.
Conference Topics
The conference will cover the following topics:
- Modern methods of biotechnology and genetic engineering;
- Applications of biotechnology in medicine and pharmacology;
- Agricultural and environmental biotechnology;
- Approaches to mitigating the impact of climate change on the environment;
- The role of digital technologies in biological research;
- Bioethical and legal issues related to the development of biotechnology.
Participation and Submission Requirements
- Presentations must be based on the participant’s own research and research findings.
- Participation is individual; however, abstracts may have multiple co-authors.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
- Length: No more than 300 words;
- Language: Georgian;
- Font: Sylfaen, 11 pt;
- Line spacing: 1.15;
- An English translation of the abstract must also be submitted.
Selection and Evaluation
All submitted papers will be reviewed by a competent jury. The best papers will be selected for oral presentations, while some submissions will be selected for poster presentations. Participants will be informed of the selection results and further details by email.
The evaluation criteria for conference papers and oral presentations are:
a) Demonstration of the relevance and significance of the topic;
b) Interpretation and substantiation of the findings.
Conference participants should prepare a 10–15-minute presentation, either as an oral presentation (PowerPoint may be used) or as a poster presentation.

- Registration and abstract submission deadline: October 20 – Registration Form
- Jury evaluation: October 27. Results will be communicated to participants by email.
- Presentation submission deadline: November 2, 18:00
- Conference program: The program will be sent to participants on November 3.
- Conference date: November 4.
Publication
Abstracts of participants selected for oral presentations will be compiled and published electronically on openjournals.ge.
The three best papers, selected by the competent jury, will be published on openscience.ge, which is integrated with the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
